Are you looking for educational programs or classes related to women's health care in Central Texas? Look no further! CommunityCare Health Centers has partnered with the Dell School of Medicine at the University of Texas at Austin to provide training for doctors in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology and dermatology. This collaboration allows our teams to advocate for patients using the most up-to-date clinical protocols and provides a learning opportunity for patients, students and residents. Residents are supervised by teaching physicians, also known as preceptors or assistants. The teaching doctor is responsible for each patient and is responsible for supervising and educating resident physicians to provide high-quality, safe and efficient patient care.
Residents learn both in outpatient clinics and in hospitals. In the clinic, they come regularly and well in advance to keep equipment stable and ensure patient continuity. Patients can consult their primary resident doctor as much as they need. If you are interested in doing research with CommunityCare, you can find the process described on our Research Portal. Once you submit the research proposal form to the portal, our organization will contact an internal expert to provide feedback and determine if the project is aligned with our current initiatives.
If it is, it will move on to the next steps described in the portal's flow chart. Clinical placement is defined as any organization of students from the medical field present in an environment that provides medical care to patients or to the public. It provides a practical experience of working with patients. The student must attend a school that has an affiliation agreement or memorandum of understanding with CommunityCare. The Department of Education and Research will determine the number of students the clinic can accommodate. Students seeking clinical placement rotations will submit a complete online application with the required documentation for consideration.
Visit our Clinical Placement Internship Portal (link below) and choose the form corresponding to your education level. All applicable paperwork and costs are separate from CommunityCare and are the responsibility of the student. Deadlines are critical to meeting the follow-up requirements if the student's rotation request is approved. Observation is limited to 24 hours and does not have to be three consecutive days but can be extended to several days (within a month). Observers must be 16 years or older and will not assist in any procedure or participate in any action other than passive observation.
Students seeking observation experiences will submit a complete online application with the required documentation for consideration. All incorporation procedures and applicable costs are independent of CommunityCare and are the responsibility of the student. The health education centers in the area, better known as AHECs, are academic and community associations that address the problems of health workers. Currently, CommunityCare is home to the East Region - Capital of the Texas AHEC, which collaborates with organizations and educational institutions to improve the supply, distribution, retention and training of diverse health professionals in areas with underserved medical services. Central Texas College is accredited by the Universities Commission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees and certificates of completion. They offer classes that cover a wide range of topics related to women's health care such as stages of labor, breathing techniques, pain management options, cesarean delivery, postpartum care, breastfeeding, newborn care, postpartum depression screening, interpreting periodicity schedules for checkups, promoting timely administration of vaccines, evaluating autism spectrum disorder in young patients, integrating validated developmental evaluations into preventive health screenings, trends affecting vaccination rates and public health in Texas.
